I’m often asked if I accept gratuities (just the French word for tips, don’t you know!). Or why I don’t, if I have politely (and gratefully) declined.
I’ll be honest, I actually prefer not to receive them in addition to my published rates. That way things are clean and clear. And so I have put in place my policy to warmly accept gratitude, but firmly reject gratuities.
“I consider massage therapy to be an essential part of your self-care toolkit.”
I consider massage therapy to be an essential part of your self-care toolkit, such as healthy movement, brushing teeth, and eating healthfully. I am an educated professional licensed by NY state and I view myself a healthcare practitioner, offering relaxation, pain relief, and general health through massage. To me, the institution of tipping doesn’t fit into this picture.
Just take it all!!
In addition, most of us feel pretty amazing after a massage therapy appointment. I don’t want to take advantage of those happy feels in any way. I prefer that you return more often instead. It’s better for both of us in the long run if you save the gratuity and put it towards your next massage!
“My practice thrives when I meet the people in your life who value massage.”
Referrals make the greatest gratuities!
Lastly, I’d like you to know that the very best gratuity after a massage session that you could ever give me is the referral of your family and friends! My practice thrives when I meet the people in your life who value massage. And I love getting to know the community as a whole through you.
Book an appointment today to experience how massage supports your health. I look forward to seeing you!
